Yes friends and neighbors, I got out. I sprang through a crack in the door, and was merrily on my way. Mama was expecting a Shredder out of Raleigh (about an hour away), and was trying to get the stuff that needed shredding on the porch. She thought I was far enough away…BUT I WASN’T and I sprang out the door. Mama grabbed her phone and texted my next door Auntie Michelle that I was out and in her yard. But hah hah, I got outta there really fast and in spite of their best efforts, I eluded them. Then the Shredding Truck shows up. Mama says to the driver, “My dog just got out, here’s your check and here’s what needs to be shredded….I have to go.” Shredding man says “Oh no! Yes, go after your dog”. By now, Auntie Michelle had called our other neighbor Auntie Laurie, who adopts any dog or cat that no one else will (we all live next door to one another, kind of like the Bermuda Triangle of animal rescue) , and she was on the case….the three of them had tracked Aunt Lauries’ senior dog Hampton about two years ago in the freezing cold (and Auntie Michelle found him!) So Mama raced over to Aunt Laurie, who had her car in gear…they started driving and looking and calling for me. Mama was just smacking herself over and over again….Aunt Laurie was trying to soothe Mama…and then, Auntie Michelle texted….she had me! Mama and Aunt Laurie careened around the curve….and there we were….Auntie Michelle had me by the collar and she wasn’t letting go! Happy ending, right….WRONG! Yes, happy to get me back, but when we got home, Mama got me wiped down, gave me treats, and started looking for her 2016 bank statements. HAHA HAHA they had been shredded! Well that was IT for Mama. She drove to the bank, made the Rescue Happie Blankie/Tug deposit and broke down. The Branch Manager tried to comfort her, but Mama had had it for the day. She ordered copies of her checks, dragged herself back into the car, drove home and told me that it was going to be an early evening. And it was. I woke Mama up at 5AM to throw up what I had enjoyed on my romp, and when we came downstairs later this morning, the Mater found several “presents” that I had left downstairs. She thanked me for at least leaving them downstairs, fixed my breakfast and took me next door to play. I think she went back upstairs and crashed and burned. But she denies this. Anyway, I have been extra nice to Mama today…but who knows about tomorrow?
We too like to get out and about in our neighbourhood. We race down to the kiwifruit orchard behind us and indulge in a bit of rabbit chasing. However, for some reason mummy and daddy are never pleased with our antics. Something about being bad dogs, whatever. Love the three bestest maremmas in all the land.
That was quite an ordeal you put your Mama through, Fiona! You need to be extra nice to her today, tomorrow and for many days after that! Stay close by her, give her lots of kisses and remember that you will never have it as good out on the street as you have in your new home!
Yep. Lot’s of stress, and I kicked it all off. But I have toned it down these past few days….she’s not as young as she used to be…but you didn’t hear that from me……
Oh, my goodness!!! How frightful fornyour Mama!! I’m so glad your two Aunties were available to help her find you!! I think my heart stopped beating at least twice just reading about it! Sweet Fiona!!! 💗
I wasn’t running away from her…I was just playing….however, today I see what you are talking about. I need to tell Mama I love her! Thank you for pointing that out!
oh wow… I’m so glad the Three Mom-sketeers found you and they brought you back home Fiona… it’s good when we eggs-plore da neighborhood but such one-dog-eggs-peditions can be dangerous, so we should add a human on a string to our eggs-plorer team ;o) btw: I lost the illegal trashures I’ve found on my walk the same way like you… but in my bed ;o)
She was fortunate Auntie Michelle nabbed me so quickly….she doesn’t have enough meds in her closet to handle adventures like this…..I stank when she got me back, so I had to be wiped down and brushed…..yuck!
That someone was NOT Mama. She jumped on the phone and ordered me an Orvis collar like she got Skyler…with my name and her cell number embroidered on it. Now she is disgusted with herself that she hadn’t done that before. I have a chip, but the collar speeds things up.
Exploring the hood were you ~ well next time take Mama and your leash. As for those presents/deposits well Fiona those go outside in the yard bank.
Thanks for being a friend

She expected the throw up. Happy I did it on the wood floor and not the carpet. As for the other gifts, she was relieved that there was no blockage from something I might have ingested…..
Getting out is so naughty! Mom had 17 heart attacks just reading this story. We’re glad there was a happy ending. Yikes. I need a nap from all the excitement.
Now it’s two days afterwards and she is still dragging a bit. I keep telling her, girls just want to have fun……but it was naughty. I just wanted to explore. She could only think of the danger. Yeesh!
Oh. dear. heavens. Hope your mum gets caught up with her energy level soon. Please try to be a good boy and not get out again, Skyler, ok. Mom’s need their energy (and sleep) to dispense treats without the world crashing around them. Just saying.
Your fur-iend,
Sam
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that news. You, my dear, must be a nice girl and stop trying to imitate Elsa, my little sister. She’d do exactly the same thing.

Holy Scottie! You’ve got a runner, too! Our Riley-Puppy, aka Houdini, is the same! He makes a break for it and won’t come when I call him, (he loves to be chased–thinks it’s all part of the game!), so I have to corner him, if possible! Sometimes he escapes when I receive a delivery, and I don’t notice, and a neighbor returns him later! Thank God for the neighbors! I am just afraid someone will not see him and run over him, even though we live on a cul-de-sac, there are no guarantees someone will not be going fast and texting or looking the opposite way and he could get hit! I just pray that never happens to him or to anyone! He also up-chucks the grass and who knows what all he feasts on when he is on the lam, sometime later on in the middle of the night when he is on top of me!! Thank you very much, Houdini!
I am so sorry you got such a stressful “run for your money, or shall we say bank statements” from Fiona! That was a marathon of a day you had there, compliments of Fiona!!! We are so happy that there are so many nice Aunties to help you! God Bless them!
Love,
Riley-Puppy, Tessie-Girl, and Jackie-Scottie-Baby
Now she puts me in my crate or, in my crate that’s in our car if something complicated is going to happen. People do drive fast on our street, and I lurch at cars sometimes on our walks. She says she can’t handle another out the door adventure. I did throw up after my little trip…it was pretty gross, but Mama says she expected that…and the bad poo ( at least it was on the wooden floor instead of the carpet). Hope you guys stay safe! Don’t be giving your Mama a heart attack…..
