It’s happened again! Another year has slipped by with it’s share of happiness and heartbreak. I want to talk about the heartbreak first. Some of my most awesome pals have crossed the bridge. Mama says they’re not gone because they send us signs all the time. I’m ok with that, but it socks me in my gut when they transition. So to my dearly departed friends, many of whom have fought a very good fight, till we meet again. To their Hoomans, we are so dreadfully sorry. And please, for Mama’s sake, keep sending us signs. Signs make her happy.
As for the happiness, I’m not sure where to start. We have made some great new friends through blogging and FB. Our cousin Alan visited from England. We got to meet (and protect) Penny and Monty’s Peeps. Our friendships with others have become deeper and richer. We’ve had wonderful houseguests! And every month, I get to play, play, play my heart out with the Fab 4 ….The Parks Clan, headed up by my Auntie Karen. We go for a groom at Aunt Ashley’s. She shuts the salon down for the five of us, so we can run, jump for balls, and just hang out together as a pack. That’s my favorite time of the month, and Mama’s too.
We have had some very memorable trips this year…..Nashville to reconnect with dear friends, Lake Norman where I had my very first boat ride, Charleston during the flooding (but we made it to the wedding!) , Philadelphia to say goodbye to one of Mama’s childhood friends, and of course, Warm Springs, where not only did we reunite with dear friends, we made some new ones, AND McTavish and I explored Calloway Gardens, peed on every leaf and shrub we could whilst Mama and Aunt Bronwyn happily mucked around, wandering amongst the butterflies, looking at the turtles sunning on their log, and listening to the organist play in the Chapel. If he had only played A Whiter Shade of Pale, those two would have busted a gut.
In the works for 2016, the Fab 4, Aunt Karen, Mama and I are going to the Door County Scottie Rally in Wisconsin for the very first time. We will travel across the country, possibly meeting with Ainsley McKenna of AFWWE and her entourage, and then in Door County, connect with some most wonderful friends we have only known on Facebook. Hope they like us in person!
Best wishes to you and yours in 2016. Hang with me pals, I promise never a dull moment!
