In The Beginning……..

Skyler Portrait

Many of you have asked for an “About” page…yep, you Kismet…… and Mama can’t figure out how to do that.  So we are doing this collaboration.

It was a dark and stormy night.  Sorry, false start.

Mama had to have her  Scottie, Noah, who she loved very dearly, put down.   Noah was her heart dog, and she mourned for many months. When she felt able,  after visiting several shelters, she knew that she would like to have another Scottie, and this time, she would like to rescue.  But every rescue group she reached out to turned her down. Sometimes very rudely….like….”there will be NO DOG FOR YOU !”  Kind of like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, but Mama didn’t like that show, so she only recently figured that one out.  No Rescue group would let her adopt because we do not have a fenced yard. Ok haters, just go on and hate. We do not and will not.  Mama sez…fence didn’t keep Noah from having cancer, fence didn’t keep Noah from regular Vet care, fence didn’t keep Noah from long walks, fence didn’t keep Noah from having a groom every six weeks – you get the idea. …..Mama always took Noah  out on a leash, and, she had read about fenced dogs being bitten by snakes, etc, and not being able to escape, so Mama has blown the whole fence thing off.  If you have one, great.  But I digress.  So,  the Scottie underground of dear friends took over, and one rainy day, when The Mater was having an especially bad time, her phone rang and a cheery voice said, “There will be a dog for you shortly……just hang in there”. Lots of emails and phone calls in between….  And so it came to be that PawPaw (gone to the Peeps Rainbow Bridge) and Mama came to Atlanta and picked me up.  I was a mess.  Was surrendered to Scottie Rescue, had been chipped, spayed and had a terrible ear infection AND, had nipped the Vet Tech, so I was in quarantine for an extra ten days.  So I was not only greasy from my ear meds, the lady who surrendered me did not like the Scottie cut, so I had a Westie groom..probably my only groom with this person,  but again, I digress. My head looked really strange and extra large.  Mama asked the Vet where I was, and came over to me, where I was miz and kind of scrunched up, knelt by my cage and said, “Dude.  You don’t know it now, but I am going to be your next best friend!”    I was like “Whatever”, but to my complete surprise, I came out of my cage, and the Vet advised that “He is a biter”,  PawPaw said, “Who cares?” and  put me in our car, and we drove for a very long time.    We stopped every so often, and they tried to give me water and food, but I refused..  So they kept putting me back in my special kennel, and kept on driving.  So, much to their surprise, when we pulled up into my (get it…MY) driveway, and I got out of the Tahoe….I ran into the house, jumped on the sofa, the arm chair, ran upstairs and bounced on the bed, ran down stairs…Mama and PawPaw were just laughing their heads off….and said.” Dude, .HEY, how about some chow?”  I said, “You betcha”  And so it came to be, and still is.  The End, Skyler Braveheart

I’d go with IndyandLucy.. Put it in your “About”. You could copy and paste. I’d add one thing, where are you? You don’t have to give an address but the only thing I can tell from your story is that you’re a few hours car drive from Atlanta. I give my town but you can give something a little more vague (like northwestern Mars). Whenever I come across a blog that’s new to me, I always try to check out the “About” page to get caught up to speed.

Kismet, Thanks to Indy & Lucy, I discover how to do my “About” page. I made it very brief after last night’s post. Thanks for suggesting! SB

Skylar Braveheart I LOVE your about story. It is so nice to hear one’s history. It just gives you a better connection and automatically you move up from being friends to being family. I love that. Chat soon ps: I am quite new to this blog thing and I want to get to know more of the “friends” and their “about” pages.
