Today was a glorious, North Carolina Spring Day. Had my walkies, and then, some requests filtered in.
A) We’re going to the Cornell / Carolina Lacrosse Game. Would you let the dogs out and check their water?
No problem, we love those dogs and we are watching The Masters, so during a commercial break, we cross this task off our list.
B) We’re in New Bern at a House and Garden tour. Would you just walk over to our house and check on Snookums? He should bark at you and that’s how you’ll know he’s ok. We’ve left plenty of water and some food, we will be home before dark.
After my dinner, I go for my walk and we check on Snookums. Nothing. No barking, Worried Mama makes a call, but it is not answered. We walk closer and BINGO, there he is, not barking, but smiling up at me and Mama. Another call is made….YEP, everything is OK, Pup is good to go.
C) Mama looks out of window, sees neighbor’s ancient Lab Sam is loose AGAIN. She and neighbor Ted are now pounding down the street, herding Sam home, Sam has some tricks of his own, but this is the 15 millionth time Mama has corralled him ( no trickin’), so piece o’ cake. They are running across people’s yards to keep him close. So sorry about your Hosta shoots….. Mama opens the neighbor’s front door and stuffs him inside. Sam is not wearing his collar, so invisible fence is of no use in this drama. Sez Mama to Ted, Good Lord, I am way too old for this……
Another neighbor says to Mama, you should charge for all this stuff. The Mater says, not for a dog.
But for a hooman, you betcha!
